Lia Chapman is an actress, director, screenwriter, and producer born in the Dominican Republic, raised in New York, and living in Spain.

After more than a decade working as an actress in movies, theater, and television, she directs her debut film "Broken Angels". The cast includes Loles León, Cuca Escribano, and herself.

"Broken Angels" achieved outstanding international recognition, taking part in more than 20 festivals. Among its awards: Best Original Drama (Houston International Film Festival), Best Actress (Festival de Cine Social de Castilla-La Mancha), Excellence in Directing Award (Hispanic International Film Festival of New Jersey), Best Short Film (Cayenne Film Festival), and Special Mention (Festival de cine Luz & Movimiento, and Best Short Competition).

After earning a BA in Sociología from Fordham University in New York, she graduated from the directing certificate program at UCLA, Los Ángeles, California, with her thesis and second short film, "In My Mother's Arms". In this film, she works with the renowned actors Joaquim de Almeida (Queen of the South, Clear and Present Danger), Julie Carmen (Gloria, The Milagro Beanfield War, África), y René Victor (Weeds, Coco).

“In My Mother's Arms” has on the official selection in more than 32 festivales. Among its awards: Second Best Picture (Dominican Film Festival), Best Narrative Short Film From Caribe (Muestra Internacional de Cortometraje Solidario y Sensibilización, de Castilla-La Mancha), Best Actress (Polla In Corto - Corti A Sud, y Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes Pilas en Corto), y Best Drama (Best Mini Film (15') On Moviescreenpro Film Festival).
